LifeLine Hex Wrench Set Review

Wiggle's in-house brand - LifeLine are know for making very affordable products for cyclists. They offer an extensive range of workshop tools and we have been getting to grips with the LifeLine Hex Wrench set.

The Technology

The Lifeline Hex Wrench set (or Allen keys as they're more commonly know in the UK) are made from stainless steel with a hi-polished finish. They come in a hinged plastic holder for easy access ans storage. The set includes 9 hex wrenches and just about every size you will need for basic bike maintenance - 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm & 10mm. As is common with these tools, they have a 90° angle which provides better leverage but also feature a ball end for ease of use.LifeLine Hex Wrench Set

In use

We believe that learning your bikes parts and how to make simple fixes and adjustments is incredibly beneficial. Not only will it help you to appreciate exactly what is going on underneath you whilst you happily pedal along - but it can also save you money over time. It is also important to make sure you have the right tools for the jobs and fixes you want to carry out. The LifeLine Hex Wrench set are really well made and do their job brilliantly. Each wrench feels strong and sturdy in use and even under pressure of loosening tight bolts, we've not experienced any flex or bending. We really like the fact that all sizes are ball ended. This really helps with tightening/loosening bolts that are in difficult places as you can adjust the angle you insert the wrench. The larger 6mm, 8mm and 10mm wrenches are very stiff and are excellent for bolts where a higher torque (amount of force) is needed. The inclusion of the 10mm is also ideal for (most) chainsets. The plastic holder does its job of keeping the wrenches together but some users/mechanics may prefer no to use this.LifeLine Hex Wrench Set

Review Conclusion

In all our reviews - we try our best to provide as much detail as possible so that you know what you are reading about, what it does and what we think having used it/them. But some products are self-explanatory when it comes to what they do. However, what we can say about the LifeLine Hex Wrench Set is that quality versus value - these are one of the best products we've tested. They look good and professional, they have stood up to all of the jobs we have given them (we have been using them for a several months now) and for the £10 RRP from Wiggle - the value for money is exceptionally good. Whether you are a professional mechanic, someone who likes to dabble in bike maintenance or a beginner, we would highly recommend giving these a look.
