GripGrab Lightweight SL Socks Review

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Danish cycling brand GripGrab have released a new range of socks for summer 2018. We got our hands on - (feet into) the new GripGrab Lightweight SL socks.

The Technology

The GripGrab Lightweight SL Socks are (as the name suggests) a lightweight summer sock. The socks are made from a CoolMax® yarn and have a multi-zone open mesh pattern. This is designed to improve comfort and support, whilst providing high breathability.GripGrab Lightweight SL SocksThe Lightwight SL socks come with a 15cm cuff length which the manufacturers class as a 'classic' length. The design is simple but maintains GripGrab's trademark 'Foot Love' wording - branded across the left and right toes. The toe area has a seamless construction. This is to prevent rubbing or irritation when riding. What the GripGrab Lightweight SL socks lack in design patterns, they make up for in colours. These socks are available in eight - yes eight colour options. The colours include the more traditional black, white, navy and red. But for those wanting to standout there is also neon yellow, pink, orange and blue.GripGrab Lightweight SL SocksThanks to the wide size range, these socks are unisex and should fit most adult feet.

In Use

The GripGrab Lightweight SL socks tick just about every box I could think of when choosing a pair of cycling socks. I have found them to be comfortable on every ride. The seamless construction across the toe is a common feature with sports/cycling socks these days. But when your feet are doing all the work, it really makes a difference to comfort. The open mesh, CoolMax yarn is fantastically breathable and I found it did a good job of preventing overly sweaty feet on hot days.GripGrab Lightweight SL SocksThe different panels or 'zones' are well thought out. They provide good support and compression in key areas like around the in-step and the heel. I have always been a bit fussy when it comes to sock length. I find long socks can be a little irritating if they sit too high. The 15cm cuff sits nicely and holds in place without being too tight. I really like the refreshingly simplistic design. It gives a rider the option of a low key look with the classic colours like black, white or navy. Or for those wanting something a little more elaborate (or just nostalgic for 1980's neon) the fluro yellow, pink, orange or blue are definitely eye-catching. The SL socks retail at £14.95. This doesn't make them the cheapest socks available, but you are getting plenty of quality for your money.

GripGrab Lightweight SL Socks review conclusion

Cycling socks seem to have evolved from just being an accessory. With such a vast choice of material, length and colours available, there is something for every taste. GripGrab have come out with something simple, technical, classic and adventurous in the Lightweight SL socks. They are incredibly comfortable and live up to there lightweight name. They offer excellent support and breathability thanks to the way the Coolmax material has been constructed. I am a big fan of the plain design and the range of colours available. You could quite easily get one of each colour - if your budget permits. The GripGrab Lightweight SL socks are excellent.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_message message_box_style="solid-icon" message_box_color="blue" icon_fontawesome="fa fa-shopping-cart"]GripGrab Lightweight SL SocksGripGrab Lightweight SL Socks Available From:Wiggle - from £12.00Chain Reaction Cycles - £12.00[/vc_message][/vc_column][/vc_row]
