Don’t Call it a Comeback….

Ok, so you could call it a comeback. Welcome to the new AATR website…

For those of you who are new to all about the ride - I created it back in 2014 as a blog The original AATR website was heavily focused of being a magazine style website. I tried to cram in as many reviews, ‘how to’ guides, cycling tips as I could - forgetting about the stories and this basic pleasure of riding a bike. Being an independent and self-funded website - it became harder to maintain such a high and continuous level of new content and product reviews and I quickly became frustrated and resentful of what I had tried to build. I had forgotten the reason that I started AATR and the basic philosophy behind it! It’s all about the ride….

“I had forgotten the basic philosophy behind it! It’s all about the ride….”

As cyclists we get up at 6am on a Sunday morning and go for a ride with mates. We share a passion - an obsession with people you may have nothing else in common with. We choose to commute by bike because we don’t have to sit in a queue of traffic for an hour, and arrive at work feeling awake and invigorated (if a little sweaty). Or sometimes - a lot of the time, we cycle to exercise our bodies and clear our minds. But for what ever reason we cycle - it’s that feeling of the ride that keeps us doing it.

So with the new website and AATR, I want to get back to basics. Back to talking about cycling and why we love it, hate it and everything that comes with it. I want to share stories, pictures and videos from both the world of AATR and our friends and people we meet on our ride. There will be posts about products and tips and advice - but less intense and more social. There is still an AATR Strava Club for those motivated by being part of a virtual club.

I guess if the new AATR was a ride - it would be a Sunday social with a café stop and a chat. Instead of a Grand Tour sprint stage or time trial. You can follow AATR on social too (links at the top of the page).

I hope you’ll stick around for this new journey. Or drop in from time to time.

Ride safe.
